Why Devastating Fossil Fuels: Crude oil spills poison plants and animals. The burning of petroleum releases toxic gases that pollute the air, cause cancer, and contribute to global climate change. During the last decade, more than 1 billion gallons of crude oil has spilled into the ocean worldwide. More than 4.9 million Barrels of oil (205.8 million gallons) have spilled into the Gulf of Mexiko.
Why Not Renewable Energy Resources: Biofuels, such as biodiesel and alcohol fuel, can be made from the oils in hemp seeds and stalks, and the fermentation of the plant as a whole. Biodiesel produced from hemp is sometimes known as hempoline. Hemp biodiesel is clean burning and non-toxic.
